Manning Entertainment Centre (MEC) and Belvoir Street Theatre present: Scenes From The Climate Era.
For the first time ever, Sydney's revered Belvoir Street Theatre takes to the stage at the MEC with a powerful performance that delivers an engaging climate conversation through a deeply affecting theatrical experience.
From the mind of David Finnigan, an Australian writer at the forefront of climate change research and writing, comes a wild race through vignettes exploring an uncertain future of mirror clouds, beaches where once there were none, travelling the world when aeroplanes are gone… and zombie mice.
"If you haven't been to a show at the MEC recently, this is the one to see. Not only does it explore the very real themes of climate change that affect us all, but the quality of the performance is something you'd expect to travel for," said Alex Mills, MidCoast Council's Manager Libraries, Community and Cultural Services.
"Scenes From The Climate Era takes you through 65 short scenes that catch the exhilaration, frustration and fascination of living in interesting times. It's comic, tragic and everything in between."
"Jam-packed with information, humanity and truth, but never wagging its finger in your face, Scenes From The Climate Era is a play about now, about the choices we made yesterday, and the difficult beauty of tomorrow."
"It's hard to imagine a play about climate change that can be equal parts thought-provoking and laugh-out-loud funny, but this play works. It's about how we deal with big, breathtaking ideas – and the crazy excitement of living in hope."
There is one show only: Thursday 12 June 2025 at 7.30pm.
