Semi laden with pet food rolls in Blue Mountains

A truck driver has escaped serious injury after his semi-trailer rolled on the Woodford Bends in the Blue Mountains this morning, NSW Police say.

The single-vehicle crash happened at 5.30am when the eastbound semi – laden with pet food – rolled onto its side.

The driver is out of the cab and is being treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics for a leg injury.

Initially, all lanes eastbound were blocked; however, traffic is now being directed through the crash scene via the eastbound breakdown lane.

The road was closed for about 40 minutes and traffic is banking back; police are urging motorists to delay their eastbound journeys if possible, or choose public transport instead.

Heavy vehicle inspectors and a salvage operation could cause delays for several hours.

Police are urging anyone with information on the incident to call Crime Stoppers.
