Sending love to local traders with Valentine's Day 2.0

Hobsons Bay will give romance a second shot with Valentine's Day 2.0 set to give local retailers, hospitality, florists and tourism operators some much-needed love.

The initiative in inspired by VCCI's #ValentinesDayDoOver and will be celebrated on Sunday 14 March – one month after the circuit breaker lockdown affected Valentine's Day celebrations across Victoria.

Local businesses can register any special Valentine's Day offering and Council will promote them on social media. To register, visit www.hobsonsbaybusiness.com.au/valentines20

Romantics can then share their experience of a romantic dinner in one of our local eateries, a special gift for a special someone purchased from a Hobsons Bay store or a staycation or unique date at one of our many tourist attractions by using the hashtag #HobsonsBayValentinesDay and tagging participating businesses.

Quotes attributable to Mayor of Hobsons Bay Cr Jonathan Marsden

"Valentine's Day is a special day, not only for couples, but for businesses. Valentine's Day 2.0 presents a great opportunity to have a bit of fun, celebrate the resilience of our community and the bonds we have with our loved ones.

"For over a year now we've learnt how important it is to stick together when the going gets tough and to celebrate our successes together. Now that it's safe to do so, I think we all deserve a special night of celebration and I encourage everyone to put on their Sunday best and celebrate the Valentine's Day we unfortunately never had."
