Police are conducting separate investigations after information revealed a road rage stabbing incident at Georges Hall and a three-vehicle crash that occurred in the area a short time later are not linked.
About 10.45pm on Monday (5 April 2021), emergency services were called to Henry Lawson Drive, Georges Hall, following reports of a serious assault and crash.
Officers attended and were told two male occupants of a Honda Civic, travelling south along Henry Lawson Drive, were involved in a verbal confrontation with two male occupants of a silver Toyota Hilux, while stopped at the intersection of the Hume Highway.
The Hilux followed the Civic along Henry Lawson Drive, forcing it off the roadway and into bushland, where it rolled onto its roof near Rebaul Road.
The driver, a 20-year-old man, and passenger, a 17-year-old male, exited the Honda and were confronted by the males from the Hilux, before the older man was stabbed in the left leg.
The two men from the Hilux returned to their vehicle and were last seen heading south on Henry Lawson Drive.
The occupants of the Honda were treated at the scene, before being taken to Liverpool Hospital.
Officers from Bankstown Police Area Command commenced an investigation into the incident and are continuing to appeal for public information, or dashcam footage from the area, which may assist with ongoing inquiries.
Following a public appeal and information received, police identified that a separate Toyota Hilux was involved in a three-vehicle crash on Henry Lawson Drive a short time later.
The white Toyota Hilux allegedly failed to stop following a crash with a Toyota Camry and BMW motorcycle and continued travelling north along Henry Lawson Drive.
The driver of the Camry – a 58-year-old man – suffered chest injuries and rider of the motorcycle – a 24-year-old man – suffered leg and rib injuries. They were both taken to Liverpool Hospital.
A crime scene was established by local police, before officers from the Metropolitan Crash Investigation Unit took carriage of the investigation, which remains ongoing.
As inquiries continue, police are appealing for public assistance to identify the occupants of both Toyota Hilux vehicles, who may be able to assist with their investigations.
