Serious assault investigation at Maroochydore

Detectives from Sunshine Coast Child Protection and Investigation Unit are investigating after a man sustained serious head injuries during a disturbance at Maroochydore yesterday afternoon (Sunday, February 5).

The man was walking behind a group of youths inside a Horton Parade shopping centre just after 4.30pm, when he was punched to the head.

The man fell to the ground striking his head. He was transported to Sunshine Coast University Hospital with serious but non-life threatening head injuries.

A 16-year-old Sunshine Coast boy was taken into custody at the scene.

Investigations into this incident are continuing, anyone with information is urged to contact police.
