Serious assault investigation in Bulimba, QLD

A man suffered serious head injuries following an alleged assault outside a licensed premises in Bulimba overnight, Queensland Police say.

Shortly after midnight, police attended a disturbance after an altercation between two groups occurred outside a hotel in Oxford Street.

Initial inquiries indicate as a result of the altercation three security guards attended to separate the two groups.

A 21-year-old man was attempting to re-enter the hotel when he was allegedly punched in the head causing him to fall to the ground and lose consciousness.

The man was taken to the Princess Alexandra Hospital where he remains in a critical condition.

A 26-year-old man is assisting detectives with their inquiries.

Investigations are continuing.
