Serious assault police charges in Vincent, QLD

A man has been charged after an alleged incident that occurred in Vincent overnight, Queensland Police say.

Officers were called to an address on Lillipilli Street in Vincent at around 8pm following reports a man was allegedly loitering outside a house.

On arrival, police have spoken to the man and as they were attempting to arrest him, it will be alleged he resisted and punched a male constable in the face and slammed a door on his hand.

The officer was transported to hospital for treatment of a fracture to his finger and bruising to his face.

Police will further allege that the man resisted arrest again and officers used OC spray to subdue him, and as he was being placed into a police vehicle, he alleged kicked another officer in the groin.

A 28-year-old Cranbrook man has been charged with one count each of serious assault police causing bodily harm, serious assault police, obstruct police, failure to take care with a syringe, two counts of possession of dangerous drugs and other charges.

He is due to appear in the Townsville Magistrates Court today.
