Serious Crash Prompts Police Response in Victoria River Region

Northern Territory Police are investigating a serious crash on the Buntine Highway this morning.

Around 6.20am, police received a report of a single vehicle crash on the Buntine Highway, approximately 18 km south of the Victoria Highway turnoff.

The occupants of the vehicle, four male youths, all suffered injuries.

Two youths were conveyed to Royal Darwin Hospital by Careflight, one assessed as being in critical condition.

Two youths were conveyed to Katherine District Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The vehicle is believed to have been stolen overnight from a remote community in the Victoria River Region.

Local police remain on scene and Detectives from the Major Crash Investigation Unit have been deployed. The section of the highway remains closed.

Motorists are urged to avoid the area. For those travelling to Lajamanu, Kalkarindji and Yarralin, please use the 4WD alternative route via Buchanan Highway to Top Springs.
