Police have charged seven people following a three-day high-visibility operation focused on preventing and disrupting crime in the state's central west.
Between Thursday 18 December 2025 and Saturday 20 December 2025, officers attached to Central West Police District – assisted by officers attached to Operation Soteria, Western Region Operations Support Group, Youth Command, Traffic and Highway Patrol Command and the Dog Unit – saturated the Orange area under Operation Soteria to target and reduce crime.
As a result of the operation, police arrested and charged seven people with a total of 16 offences.
Police also conducted 28 bail compliance and apprehended domestic violence checks.
Traffic and Highway Patrol Command performed 483 random breath tests and issued 41 traffic and speeding infringements.
Youth Command officers also engaged with over 150 young people during community connection events.
Incidents of note:
- About 5.30am on Thursday (18 December 2025), police responded to reports of an alleged assault at a health facility on Forest Road, Orange. Officers were informed that a 34-year-old woman confined to a wheelchair was allegedly assaulted by a man known to her. A 32-year-old man was arrested at the location and taken to Orange Police Station where he was charged with two counts of common assault (DV), destroy or damage property and attempt stalk/intimidate intend fear of harm (domestic). The man was refused bail and has been remanded in custody where he will face Orange Local Court on Tuesday 3 February 2026. The woman was not seriously injured.
- About 1.40am on Friday (19 December 2025), a 15-year-old boy was arrested by police on Gardiner Road, Orange, for two outstanding warrants relating to seriolus assault.He was taken to Orange and charged by vifture of he warrants. The teenager was granted condition bail to appear at a children's court on Thursday 5 February 2026.
- About 10.20pm on Friday (19 December 2025), police spoke with a 31-year-old man on Dalton Street, Orange. The man was allegedly found in possession of a small quantity of illicitl and prescription drugs as well as a knife. The man was also wanted on two outstanding warrants for trespassing and break and entering. He was taken to Orange Police Station and charged with two counts of possess prohibited drugs, two counts of possess/attempt to prescribed restricted substance and the two outstanding warrants. The man is due to appear at Orange Local Court on Thursday 15 January 2026.
