Several arrests after southern suburbs pursuit

Police have arrested four people following a pursuit which started at Christie Downs this afternoon.

Just after 5.30pm on Thursday 27 February, patrols spotted a stolen Toyota sedan on Morton Road and tried to stop it. The driver refused and sped off before turning into nearby side streets. Police continued to pursue the car as it travelled along Main South Road before successfully spiking it near the intersection of Bains Road.

The car then entered the incorrect side of Main South Road and turned into Sherriffs Road where it crashed with a police vehicle before turning into Krawarri Street, Kitawah Street and then Gurners Lane where one of the occupants jumped out and ran off.

The stolen Toyota then turned around and struck another police vehicle before stopping on Krawarri Street where the three remaining occupants were arrested.

Patrols setup cordons and with the assistance of Police Dog Zac and his handler, located the fourth occupant a short time later hiding under a truck on Krawarri Street.

All four are expected to be charged with a number of offences.

The Toyota sedan was allegedly stolen form a property in Parkside earlier in the week. No one was injured.
