Kiama Council urges residents and businesses to prepare for the severe weather forecast this weekend.

Council has cancelled its Household Bulky Waste Drop-Off for Saturday and Sunday.

Our crews have also prepared by cleaning out our storm water network, and opening the mouth of Werri Lagoon.

We recommend everyone to follow updates and the advice from the State Emergency Service (SES) over the weekend.

The SES has already made some basic recommendations:

  • Know the height of which your home, business and street could be affected by floodwater.
  • Have an emergency kit ready to go with all your important documents and medications should you need to leave your home.
  • Reconsider the need to travel.
  • If you do need to be on the roads, drive to the conditions, and consult www.livetraffic.com.

Council staff will be contacting residents who had booked in for the Household Bulky Waste Drop-Off over the weekend about rescheduling.

If you haven't been contacted, please phone Council from Monday to arrange another time.
