Sexual Assault Appeal At Cairns

Detectives from the Cairns Child Protection and Investigation Unit (CPIU) are appealing for public assistance following a sexual assault in Smithfield yesterday afternoon, 14 October.

Around 6.30pm, a teenage boy was walking on the Captain Cook Highway when he was approached and assaulted by an unknown male offender, who then fled on foot.

The male is described as having a dark complexion, black hair with a fade cut, and was wearing a black t-shirt with graffiti-style writing on it, black shorts and slides.

Police are appealing for anyone who saw the male or has relevant CCTV and dashcam from the Captain Cook Highway between Reed Road and McGregor Road between 5.10pm and 5.50pm.

Investigations are ongoing.
