Surf Coast Shire Council is calling on the community to help shape the future of walking and cycling along Camp Road, Anglesea.
Camp Road is a key local connection between the shopping precinct and the Anglesea Primary School and Anglesea Bike Park.
Council is seeking community feedback on two long-term options to make Camp Road safer and easier to walk, ride and move around the area.
The two options are:
- Protected bike lanes on the western (school) side, keeping the existing footpath, or
- A wider shared path on the western (school) side from the town centre to Agnes Lane, which would then transition onto a section of protected on-road bike lane.
Councillor Mike Bodsworth said community input would play an important role in guiding the project.
"Camp Road is an important route for local families, particularly students travelling to and from school and Anglesea Bike Path," said Cr Bodsworth.
"We want to make sure it is safe, accessible and comfortable for everyone, whether you're walking, riding or using a mobility aid."
Two options have been developed that present different ways to improve the path along Camp Road. Each option has different benefits, costs and impacts.
Cr Bodsworth said safer walking and cycling connections are a key priority for Council through the Safe Cycling Strategy.
"Safer walking and cycling connections support healthier lifestyles, reduce traffic congestion and help create more connected communities," said Cr Bodsworth.
"Its really important for kids to be able to get around independently."
"This is an opportunity for the community to have a say and help shape a project that will benefit Anglesea for years to come."
Community members are encouraged to review the two proposed options and provide feedback to help inform the next stage of planning.
Feedback is open until Monday 27 April 2026.
