Shellharbour Libraries Help Seniors Get Tech-Ready

Shellharbour City Libraries are helping older residents build digital skills and confidence through a six‑week series of free Tech Savvy Seniors classes starting Friday 20 February 2026 at the Shellharbour City Library.

The program offers friendly, guided support to help seniors use technology for everyday communication, connection and independence.

The program is designed to help older residents feel more confident using everyday technology so they can stay connected with family, friends and essential services. Participants will learn practical skills across a wide range of digital topics, including using smartphones and tablets, navigating the internet, shopping and banking, staying safe online and exploring social media.

Shellharbour City Mayor Chris Homer said the program continues to play an important role in supporting seniors to feel confident with modern technology.

"Our libraries play an essential role in supporting digital inclusion across our community. This program helps ensure older residents have the skills they need to stay connected, informed and confident in a rapidly changing digital world," Mayor Homer said.

Six‑week Tech Savvy Seniors program schedule (all classes are 10am)

• Friday 20 February 2026 - Introduction to Smartphones & Tablets 1

• Friday 27 February 2026 - Introduction to Smartphones & Tablets 2

• Friday 6 March 2026 - Introduction to Social Media

• Friday 13 March 2026 - Online Shopping and Banking 1

• Friday 20 March 2026 - Online Shopping and Banking 2

• Friday 27 March 2026 - Cyber Safety

All sessions are free for community members of all ages. Bookings are essential. To register for any of the sessions, visit the Shellharbour City Libraries website.

The Tech Savvy Seniors Program is proudly funded by the NSW Government through the Tech Savvy Seniors Grant Program 2025/26, and will be facilitated by trainers from Kiama Community College.
