Shellharbour Village Parklet Moving To New Location

Shellharbour City Council is relocating the parklet in Shellharbour Village to a new position on Addison Street on Wednesday 21 January as part of the ongoing parklet trial, giving locals and visitors a new way to enjoy this fresh public space.

Since launching in its original location at the east end of Addison Street in November 2025, the parklet has been a popular place to relax, connect, and support nearby businesses.

The parklet will now be moved to the west end of Addison Street near Australia Post to test how different placements impact street activity and community use.

Shellharbour City Mayor Chris Homer said the relocation is part of Council's commitment to understanding how flexible public spaces can improve the village experience.

"People have told us they want Shellharbour Village to be a more vibrant, people-friendly place," Mayor Homer said.

"Moving the parklet gives us the chance to explore how different locations help bring people together and support local businesses."

The parklet trial began following community feedback as part of the Shellharbour Village Check In, where people shared ideas about making the village more welcoming, social and pedestrian-friendly.

The accessible structure offers comfortable seating, shade and greenery, creating an inviting space to socialise.

Council will continue to gather community feedback over the remainder of the trial to help shape future public space improvements in the village.

Community members are encouraged to visit the parklet, take a seat, and share their thoughts with Council online at: letschatshellharbour.com/shellharbour-village/parklets
