Shooting Australia's Newly Appointed Chief Operations Officer Jenni Thom selected for AIS Talent Program

Shooting Australia's newly appointed Chief Operations Officer Jenni Thom is among 32 women from 20 sports selected for the Australian Institute of Sports (AIS) Talent Program which is designed to address the under-representation of women in coaching and executive roles in high performance sport.

Jenni, who joined Shooting Australia in March 2020 as the Manager of Finance and Human Resources, has transitioned into the role of Chief Operations Officer as part of a restructure to align and consolidate Shooting Australia's people, activities, resources and outcomes towards the achievement of a renewed organisational focus. Growing up in country South Australia, Jenni moved to Adelaide for University where she studied Law and Commerce, later taking up roles in Corporate Law, government and corporate finance. With a strong passion for sport at both community and state level, Jenni's significant involvement has led her to roles as a team coach and team manager as well as positions on various sporting committees. Presently Jenni is an independent commissioner on the Basketball SA Commission as well as the Chair of the Basketball SA Finance and Audit Committee.

With her credentials both on and off the field of play, there was a natural progression into the role of Chief Operations Officer, making Jenni a stand out applicant for the AIS Talent Program which has been designed to be a catalyst for identified women leaders to further progress their career potential in sport. Jenni will take part in the 2022 AIS Female Sport Executive Talent Program which will assist her professional development in an intensive program funded by the Australian Government's Office for Women and Sport Australia.

"I am very passionate about sport and over the past two years have loved learning about the target shooting sports. I am really excited about the opportunities that I have recently been presented with in both the role of Chief Operations Officer and to be part of the AIS Talent Program. After the challenges the pandemic presented us with, I am so enthusiastic about now being able to get out into the community and connect with our athletes, officials and high performance partners" Jenni says.

The AIS Talent Program was officially launched on 17 March, 2022.
