Shots fired, Harristown

Queensland Police are responding to an ongoing incident at Harristown this afternoon.

Shortly before 2pm officers observed a suspected stolen silver Mitsubishi SUV when one of the occupants discharged a firearm towards police, striking their vehicle.

Police discharged their firearms in response.

The SUV accelerated away at speed.

Residents on Blackwood Street, Derwak Street and Dempsey Street are advised to stay in their homes at this time.

A short time later a man presented at the Toowoomba Hospital with injuries consistent to a gunshot wound believed to be linked to this earlier incident in Harristown.

A number of crime scenes have been established at this time. No police officers were injured.

The Ethical Standards Command is investigating the incident, overseen by the Crime and Corruption Commission.
