Shots fired into unit - Berala

An investigation is underway following a public place shooting in Sydney's west overnight.

About 11.50pm (Friday 4 February 2022), police were called to a unit block on Crawford Street, Berala, following reports shots had been fired.

On arrival, officers attached to Auburn Police Area Command found a number of bullet holes in the front door of an apartment, as well as projectile casings on the ground.

No one was inside at the time, and there no reported injuries.

A short time later, emergency services attended Boyd Lane off Sixth Avenue, Berala, responding to reports an abandoned vehicle was alight.

NSW Fire and Rescue extinguished the blaze which destroyed the car and brought down a power line.

Crime scenes were established at both locations and will be forensically examined by specialist police.

Detectives have commenced an investigation and are conducting inquiries to determine if the two incidents are linked.
