Should have caught bus in Melton South

Police nabbed a drink driver after responding to a car crash into a bus shelter in Melton South early this morning.

It is believed the driver of a white Holden Cruz sedan was on Station Road when it crashed into a parked car before careering onto the wrong side of the road and striking a bus shelter about 12.20am.

The 37-year-old driver, who escaped injury, gave a positive preliminary breath test before being taken to a local police station where he returned an evidentiary breath test of .205.

The Melton West man had his car impounded and is expected to be charged on summons with drink driving and traffic offences.
