Showers in South, Warm and Dry Elsewhere

While further east, we've got a pretty dry day for much of the east coast with light winds there, maybe some showers up around the north tropical coast as well and maybe another front and cooler conditions impacting south-western parts of WA as well.

And maybe a few showers and maybe a possible afternoon storm as well for our far tropical north, we're almost into the build-up and wet season up there, but not quite.

But let's have a look at all of that in more detail.

Firstly in Queensland, I've got a couple of those coastal showers through central and northern coastal areas, particularly around the north tropical coast and exposed areas of the Central Coast, and maybe a few showers as well up around the Cape York area as well. Hot, dry and sunny through inland areas. Temperatures in the low to mid 30s, get into the high 30s through south-western parts of Queensland. A little bit cooler through inland southern areas in the high 20s and mostly in the high mid to high 20s our coastal areas as well. A little bit cooler though, in the south-east with those south-easterly winds. Brisbane looking at a dry, partly cloudy day and 24 °C.

Moving down into New South Wales and high pressure dominating the weather there. So dry and partly cloudy conditions pretty much statewide for many areas warming up, though in the west with temperatures into the low 30s there. Mid to high 20s through southern and eastern areas. A little bit cooler though up around the north-east in onshore flow. Sydney looking at a lovely 25 °C with lots of sunshine.

Canberra also very warm and sunny with a few clouds in the afternoon and 25 °C.

Moving down into Victoria and another warm and windy one on the way for much of the state, could see some showers moving into south-western parts of the state later in the day, and maybe the chance of a storm out there as well. And then towards the evening hours, we're going to see showers and possible thunderstorms developing around northern areas as well. But if storms do develop, they will be isolated and quick moving. Temperatures in the mid to high 20s for much of the state, get into the low 30s through northern parts, with 33 °C up around Mildura. Melbourne looking at a cloudy, warm and breezy 23 °C with maybe a few showers moving in at night.

Moving down into Tasmania and rain will be continuing across much of western parts. That will extend into central areas at times during the day and the north, with just a few light showers through eastern areas during the afternoon and evening, with conditions easing as we get into Wednesday night. Mild day generally in the mid to high teens through western and northern areas and into the low 20s through eastern parts of Tasmania as well. Possible shower or two about and 23 °C in Hobart.

Moving up into South Australia, and it's going to be a tale of two halves. Through southern parts of the state, it's going to be cloudy, we're going to have showers, maybe some thunderstorms as well, and maybe tending to rain through far western and south-western parts of South Australia. Well further north, particularly ahead of the trough. We're going to see dry, hot and sunny conditions with temperatures in the mid to high 30s through northern areas, gusty winds and maybe even a chance that would have raised dust up there as well with those gusty conditions. So hot in the north, cooler, cloudy and breezy in the south with showers and patchy rain. Adelaide looking at a few showers and 24 °C. Possible storms through southern parts of SA as well tomorrow.

Moving into WA and we'll see another round of rain and thunderstorms through eastern areas in the afternoon and evening. Some of those could be severe and moving into South Australia during those afternoon hours. Well, I could see showers and lighter conditions like cloud and wind to south-western parts of WA during the day as well, and temperatures on the cooler side as well. You know, get into the high, high teens, I should say to the south-west, low to mid 20s elsewhere across the south, and getting up into the low 30s through northern areas as well, generally below average temperatures for much of WA on Wednesday. Perth looking at a few showers and 19 °C.

And finally moving up towards the Northern Territory and northern Australia. We're going to see these easterly winds, just bring some showers about exposed coast, maybe a rumble of thunder or two as well with that, as that instability is slowly increasing. Hot inland, though, temperatures in the high 30s through parts of the Kimberley and also the southern inland Top End. Temperatures also warming up through central and southern NT as well with temperatures in the mid 30s there. You can see 35 °C at Alice Springs and 33 °C with a possible shower at Darwin, while parts of the Kimberley also looking at hot and sunny conditions.
