Sick Tasmanians needing help still failing to get it under Rockliff

Tasmanian Labor

The Rockliff-Ferguson Government's economic management isn't delivering for Tasmanians.

Tasmanians have nothing to show for the government's debt and deficits.

New data released by the government shows more than 9,600 Tasmanians requiring necessary surgery are languishing on the elective surgery waiting list with the most urgent patients forced to wait up to three months. Of those people, more than 4,000 are waiting for treatment at the Launceston General Hospital and more than 3,700 at the Royal Hobart Hospital.

Over 57,900 Tasmanians are still waiting to see a specialist. This is the hidden elective surgery wait list.

And the number of Tasmanians requiring dental care remains over 15,000.

It's unacceptable that the Premier and Health Minister Jeremy Rockliff continues to make big promises but fails to deliver better health services and outcomes for Tasmanians.

The Rockliff-Ferguson Government's first budget will in fact make cuts to total spending over the next two years with the already critically under-funded health system taking a hit of more than $126 million next year.

This government just can't get the basics right.
