Significant Haul Of Drugs Seized In Adelaide

A man has been arrested after police located 20kg of illicit drugs on an interstate passenger bus service this morning.

At 6.30am Friday 28 November, Detectives from the Serious and Organised Crime Branch attended the Adelaide Bus Station in Franklin Street, Adelaide, where they intercepted a 21-year-old man who had travelled from Melbourne to Adelaide on an overnight bus service.

A search of the man and his luggage uncovered 10kg of cocaine and 10kg of methamphetamine.

The 21-year-old from Salisbury Plain was arrested and charged with two counts trafficking a large commercial quantity of a controlled drug. He was refused police bail and will appear in the Adelaide Magistrates Court later today.

Following the seizure, detectives searched a house at Salisbury Plain where a small quantity of cocaine was located.

Detective Superintendent Shane Addison, Serious and Organised Crime Branch, says this arrest highlights the work that police undertake to proactively target those that traffic in illicit drugs.

"This seizure has removed a considerable quantity of dangerous drugs from the streets of South Australia, and in doing so has prevented serious risk and harm to the community. We are continuing to investigate those responsible for the trafficking of these drugs and I anticipate there will be additional people charged as this investigation progresses."
