Significant winter weather in forecast; Vanderbilt classes will operate on schedule

COVID-19 testing center closed for Monday, Feb. 15; VU essential staff should report

The Nashville area is under a winter storm warning from 6 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 14, until 6 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 16. The forecast calls for heavy mixed precipitation, with possible snow accumulations of up to 5 inches and possible ice accumulations of one-tenth to three-tenths of an inch.

All Vanderbilt University classes will be conducted on their normal schedule. Faculty members will notify students should there be any change to class arrangements.

The COVID-19 testing center at the David Williams II Recreation and Wellness Center will be CLOSED on Monday, Feb. 15. Undergraduate students who were scheduled for testing on Monday should forego this test but should attend their second test for the week as scheduled Wednesday-Friday. Graduate and professional students, faculty and staff who were planning to be tested on Monday should postpone until Wednesday, Feb. 17, or later in the week.

Staff who are considered "essential" should make plans, in collaboration with their managers, to report to work if they are safely able to do so. Staff who are working remotely should continue to work remotely during this weather event. Staff who are currently working on campus but not designated by their department leader as "presence-based essential" should consult with their supervisor to determine whether to report to campus or, if feasible, to work remotely. In all cases, if staff have questions about their work location or expectations, they should contact their supervisor. (Staff covered by a collective bargaining agreement are subject to established departmental policies regarding attendance.)

All faculty, staff and students living off campus are strongly encouraged to evaluate road conditions along their commute and to use discretion in choosing whether or not to travel to campus. Personal safety is the first priority.
