Sitting Pretty On Sawtell's Restaurant Strip

Coffs Harbour City

Sawtell's acclaimed 'eat street' is getting a makeover.

City of Coffs Harbour is funding a program which will see restoration of the heritage-style street furniture and a revamp of the centre island gardens in First Avenue.

The Men's Shed will blast and recoat the steel bench seats in 'Manor Red' (maroon) while the timber slats will be sanded and refinished.

Existing concrete and aluminium settings will be replaced by picnic tables more in keeping with the heritage-style of the furniture being restored.

The Sawtell restaurant strip is renowned across the East Coast, and the centre island gardens are a popular spot to sit under the giant figs and watch the world go by.

Signs explaining the project have been placed in the area, and the furniture upgrade works should be completed shortly.

City of Coffs Harbour is also about to apply a fresh coat of paint to the street light poles in First Avenue.
