Brimbank police officers and detectives have arrested six males following an aggravated carjacking in Sunshine overnight.
It's alleged that three males, armed with machetes, approached a rideshare vehicle on Kinnane Crescent about 10.50pm.
The alleged offenders made demands for the silver Toyota Camry and assaulted the driver, before taking off in the car.
The driver was not physically injured.
The Toyota was spotted traveling along Hertford Street towards Hampshire Road.
Police seized a kitchen knife located on Hertford Street, alleged to have been wielded by one of the males.
The allegedly stolen ride share was sighted a short time later, driving at a fast rate of speed through a red light on Station Road in Kings Park.
Soon after, officers spotted the vehicle at the drive-thru of a fast-food restaurant on St Albans Road in St Albans.
Police moved in and placed tyre deflation devices under the vehicle.
The Toyota allegedly attempted to perform a U-turn in the drive-thru before colliding with a police vehicle.
No one was injured.
With the assistance of a K9 unit, six males were arrested at the scene.
One of males allegedly resisted arrest and sustained a dog bight.
He was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
All six males will be interviewed by investigators.
