Six arrested following graffiti attack in Newcastle

Six people have been arrested after an alleged graffiti attack on a building in Newcastle this morning, NSW Police say.

Police from Newcastle Local Area Command were called to Hunter Street, Newcastle West, about 12.20am today, and found two men, aged 18 and 37, two women, aged 28 and 24, and a 17-year-old girl in a laneway.

Police allege the six were using a ladder and paint to spray graffiti over a nearby building.

They were arrested and taken to Newcastle Police Station where they were all charged with malicious damage and trespass.

The five adults were given conditional bail and are due to appear at Newcastle Local Court on Thursday 27 July 2017.

The teenage girl was also granted conditional bail and is due to appear at a Children’s Court on Monday 24 July 2017.

Police are urging anyone with information in relation to this incident to call Crime Stoppers.
