Six people have been charged with drug supply offences after they were detected carrying illicit substances including MDMA and ketamine, at yesterday's music festival in Sydney's Domain.
A high-visibility policing operation – focusing on anti-social behaviour, alcohol-related crime, and illegal drug use and supply – involved officers from the Central Metropolitan Region, with assistance from specialist units including the Dog Unit, Licensing Police, and Police Transport Command.
An estimated 28,000 people attended the festival with 155 arrested during the drug dog operation, 149 of them for possession, and six for supply. This included,
• A 21-year-old man from Kellyville Ridge has been charged with supply a prohibited drug, and assault police after officers allege he was carrying 40 capsules of MDMA. He has been granted conditional bail to appear in the Downing Centre Local Court on Thursday 14 February 2019.
• A 19-year-old man from Eagle Vale has been charged with two counts of supply a prohibited drug, and deal with the proceeds of crime after allegedly being detected with 55 capsules of MDMA. He has been granted conditional bail to appear in the Downing Centre Local Court on Wednesday 30 January 2019.
• An 18-year-old woman from Berkeley Vale has been charged with supply a prohibited drug after allegedly being found with 25 capsules of MDMA. She has been granted conditional bail to appear in the Downing Centre Local Court on Thursday 31 January 2019.
Police also ejected 41 people for intoxication, issued two people for criminal infringement notices for failing to quit licensed premises.
Five Field Court Attendance Notices (FCANS) were issued for assault, including one for the alleged assault of a 20-year-old woman about 6.30pm (Tuesday 1 January 2019). A 21-year-old Miami man is due to appear in Downing Centre Local Court on Tuesday 29 January 2019 charged over that incident.
Police have been advised five people were taken to hospital, four of which for drug-related health issues.
