Six Months, Zero Progress On Veterans' Card Uptake

Liberal Party Victoria
Victorian veterans continue to be ignored, with the Allan Labor Government making zero progress on its veterans' card uptake for the past six months.

At the Public Accounts and Estimates Committee (PAEC) hearing, Acting Departmental Secretary, Rachael Green, confirmed the uptake remains stuck at just 20 per cent, representing 20,548 veterans - the exact same figure provided in May.

Shadow Minister for Veterans, Tim Bull, said the stagnation shows Labor is failing to listen.

"Six months on and uptake hasn't moved an inch - Minister Suleyman has done nothing to fix it," Mr Bull said.

"For over two years, veterans have been crystal clear: they want a physical card, not a digital-only option."

Mr Bull said the Allan Labor Government's inaction is a direct result of ignoring the veteran community.

"The Minister has failed to act, and wonders why uptake has not increased. It is another classic example of Labor not listening to its stakeholders," Mr Bull said.

"When asked if the government was aware veterans would prefer a physical card, Ms Green answered, 'Yes, we are aware of that.'

"This is an admission they have known and not acted," Mr Bull said.

A Liberal and Nationals Government will respect veterans' feedback, restore proper consultation and deliver a system that actually works for them.
