Skate parks and outdoor fitness equipment will reopen tomorrow, Saturday 18 September, following the Victorian Government's slight easing of COVID-19 restrictions.

Other changes to restrictions, which come into effect at 11.59pm today, include:

  • An additional reason to leave home – outdoor social interaction
  • An increase in the time permitted for outdoor exercise from two to four hours
  • Two people can train outdoors with a personal trainer
  • The distance you can travel from home increases from 5km to 10km.

Nillumbik has three skate parks – in Eltham, Diamond Creek and Hurstbridge. There is also outdoor fitness equipment at Campbell Street Reserve, Rotary Park and the Regional Playspace in Diamond Creek, as well as at the Eltham North Adventure Playground.

The changes come as Victoria hits its first-dose vaccination target of 70 per cent.

In Nillumbik as of this week, 76.7 per cent of the population aged over 15 have had their first vaccination dose and 50.7 per cent have had their second dose.

Under the changes announced by the Victorian Government, one person may meet another person for outdoor interaction such as a walk, picnic or other outdoor activity.

For those who have received both doses of the COVID-19 vaccine, five adults from two households and their dependents can gather outdoors.
