The Minister for Regional Services, Senator Bridget McKenzie today welcomed NBN Co’s plan to provide increased data allowances for regional Australians using Sky Muster satellite services.
The new Sky Muster Plus product is designed to provide unmetered data for essential daily tasks such as web browsing, email and software updates. The new product will no longer count these activities against a household’s monthly data allowance.
Minister McKenzie said the new products show the Government’s ongoing commitment to improving broadband services in regional, rural and remote Australia.
"I am pleased to see that NBN Co is continuing to explore ways to deliver services that better meet the needs of regional Australians. It was only just over a year ago that NBN Co doubled maximum monthly wholesale data limits and increased peak download allowances by 50 per cent. This new product will enable access to even more data for Sky Muster users," Minister McKenzie said.

"The Sky Muster Plus product will allow families to select from a greater range of broadband plans to meet their individual needs.
"This change will ensure ongoing access to essential everyday activities like internet banking and accessing government services, without households having to worry about exceeding their monthly data limit.
"With regional Australia responsible for around 70 per cent of Australia’s exports from only 30 per cent of the population, we need to be doing more to build on this success."
Monthly data caps on the new Sky Muster Plus product will apply to high data usage applications including video streaming services and online gaming.
