Skydiver dies at Taree

A skydiver has died following an incident on the Mid North Coast earlier today.

About 11.45am (Saturday 7 August 2021), emergency services were called to Taree Airport after reports a skydiver had an uncontrolled landing.

Upon arrival, police and NSW Ambulance paramedics commenced CPR on a man aged in his 70s.

He was taken to Manning-Base Hospital, where he died a short time later.

Officers from Manning-Great Lakes Police District established a crime scene and have commenced inquiries into the incident.

The Australian Transport Safety Bureau (ATSB) have been notified.

A report will be prepared for the information of the Coroner.
