Small business- Winners in the Queensland Budget
Operating a small business is a constant struggle, their owners work hard against the odds to survive in a high taxing environment. That's why the latest budget news in Queensland brought a smile to the faces of many small business owners, according to Jos de Bruin from Master Grocers Australia. Mr de Bruin said, "Our retailers are mostly small family enterprises that don't very often receive a boost to operating their day to day businesses but this time they are winners in the 2018 Queensland State Budget"
He continued, "All praise to the Small Business Minister Sharon Fentiman who welcomed the initiative of the Palaszczuk Government in giving incentives to small businesses in several ways. The Government has provided help to thousands of small businesses by not requiring payroll tax payments until their threshold reaches $1.3 million in a year. Also, if they happen to operate in regional Queensland and up to 85% of their employees live outside SE Queensland then they will receive a discount of 1% reduction on their payroll. These are much needed incentives to businesses who have had to put a tough year behind them and battle on against the odds. Many family owned enterprises will also receive a 'growth rebate 'of up to $20k for a period of two years as an incentive for employing additional full-time employees. "
Mr de Bruin concluded that, " We believe that these incentives and rebates for small retailers will reap rewards for the state and we are particularly pleased that the Palaszczuk Government has chosen not to ignore the contribution that family enterprises make to the community and the prosperity that they can bring to the state of Queensland. We hope the Government will continue to recognise the importance of small businesses because as the engine room of the economy their power cannot be underestimated."
