Snowy Monaro Council Marks Year of Major Road Revamps

Upgraded and repaired image of Countegany Road

With another financial year complete, Snowy Monaro Regional Council is eager to share the enormous body of road-related repairs, upgrades, and major projects completed in the 2022/23 financial year.

In a regional area like the Snowy Monaro, our roadways are vital in keeping our communities and businesses connected, safe, and accessible. With a year of unprecedented wet weather, it has been a tremendous achievement by our roads teams to complete so much proactive work – on top of the reactive repairs necessitated by the weather.

Over the course of the financial year, Council completed almost $20 million in work across our road network. We are deeply grateful to our partners in the NSW Government and the Federal Government for their grant funding support, across innumerable funding streams, that made much of this work possible.

Council wants to thank our community for their patience and understanding as our team worked to clear the backlog of maintenance on our road network. With serious damage effecting roads throughout the entire region, it has taken time and huge effort to get to where we are today.

But there's more to do to keep our region connected and safe on the road, and Council looks forward to sharing more about our plans and completed projects for 2023/24.
