So very wronga in Yarrawonga

A Yarrawonga man has a date lined up with the Magistrates’ Court after his vehicle was intercepted by South East State Highway Patrol members last night, Victoria Police say.

Police observed the allegedly unregistered vehicle on McLean Street, Yarrawonga about 9.30pm and intercepted it.

The 34-year-old subsequently underwent a breath test, returning an alleged alcohol reading of 0.222 per cent.

He also allegedly tested positive to cannabis and is expected to be charged on summons for drink and drug-driving and other traffic-related offences.

Additionally, the man was arrested on an outstanding warrant over assault-related matters.

He has been bailed and is due to appear at the Cobram Magistrates’ Court on1st November in relation to that matter.

The intercept forms part of Operation Scoreboard, a statewide focus on road user behaviour that will target speed, driver distraction, seatbelt non-compliance, fatigue and drink and drug driving in an effort to reduce road trauma.

The operation, which started at 12.01am on Thursday, 28 September, finishes at 11.59pm tonight.
