Social media helping region's business community come together

Snowy Monaro Regional Council is encouraging the business community to join forces and come together during this difficult time.

Council's Economic Development and Tourism team have created the Facebook Group SMRC COVID-19 Local Business Forum to provide a space for Council and Snowy Monaro businesses to share information and ideas relating to challenges and opportunities generated by COVID-19.

The forum is intended to be a positive, open, constructive and genuinely helpful online space and will be maintained in that spirit.

"Like most of our businesses, Council is planning to adjust the way we do business in order to continue delivering essential services to our community," Snowy Monaro Regional Council Mayor Peter Beer said.

"We know our businesses are facing a long period of uncertainty. Despite these tough times we are seeing wonderful examples of business operators connecting with others to meet the increasing challenges brought about by COVID-19.

"This Facebook group has more than 500 members and is growing by the day."

Council is encouraging the business community to join the Facebook group to share their challenges, opportunities and to promote any vacant positions.

The group can be found through Facebook's search function by typing SMRC COVID-19 Local Business Forum. Already 531 people have joined the group.
