Solar Battery Installations On Rise

Solar battery installations aren't showing any signs of slowing down with an additional 23,925 reported solar batteries installations since the July 2025 update.

Since solar batteries became eligible under the Small-scale Renewable Energy Scheme on 1 July 2025, we've seen a total of 43,517 solar batteries installed with a new or existing rooftop solar system.

These solar batteries have provided a total nominal capacity of 825 MWh. The average nominal battery size installed is 19.0 kWh.

These figures include installations that have both approved and pending applications for small-scale technology certificates (STCs). It doesn't include installations with failed applications for STCs, or those that haven't applied yet.

The graph shows the number of solar battery installations to the end of August 2025 per state. It includes those with both approved and pending STC applications. NSW: 15,418, QLD: 8,572, SA: 6,415, VIC: 6,945, WA: 4,577, ACT: 865, TAS: 580, NT: 145
The graph shows the average solar battery size per state in kWh. NSW: 19.6, QLD: 20.7, SA: 18.2, VIC: 17.9, WA: 16.6, ACT: 18.8, TAS: 16.5, NT: 24.8
