Solicitor charged with pervert the course of justice, NSW

Strike Force Raptor have charged a Parramatta-based solicitor with pervert the course of justice, NSW Police say.

As part of ongoing inquiries into violent conflicts between OMCGs across NSW, police from the Criminal Groups Squad’s Strike Force Raptor and the Drug and Firearms Squad’s Chemical Operations Unit commenced an investigation into the importation, manufacture, and supply of prohibited drugs.

During the course of the investigation, police gathered evidence relating to the alleged fabrication of medical conditions in order to adjourn court dates.

A 37-year-old man was previously charged by Strike Force Raptor with pervert the course of justice. He remains before the courts.

Following further inquiries, a 27-year-old man was arrested by investigators on George Street Parramatta, just after 10am today (Wednesday 3 October 2018).

He was taken to Parramatta Police Station and charged with pervert the course of justice.

Police will allege in court that the man, who is a solicitor, provided advice to a client in relation to obtaining a medical certificate, which ensured the adjournment of a court matter.

The Greenacre man was granted strict conditional bail and is due to appear at Parramatta Local Court on Wednesday 14 November 2018.

Police will also refer the information to the Office of the Legal Services Commissioner.

Strike Force Raptor was established in 2009 and conducts proactive investigations and intelligence-based, high-impact policing operations to prevent and disrupt conflicts, and dismantle any network engaged in serious organised criminal activity.
