South Australia coronovirus update as at 7 May 2020

A man in his 70s has been diagnosed with COVID-19. There have now been a total of 439 cases reported in South Australia.

The latest case acquired COVID-19 overseas and his only symptoms were a loss of taste and smell.

Five close contacts are isolating and being monitored daily for symptoms.

The latest case is one of just two active cases in SA, and 433 people have been cleared of COVID-19.

Two people remain in hospital recovering from the effects of COVID-19, however they are no longer infectious.

There have been four reported deaths in SA from COVID-19.

SA Pathology has undertaken more than 65,000 tests for COVID-19 so far.

People experiencing any of the following should be tested for COVID-19:

  • Fever or chills (in the absence of an alternative illness that explains these symptoms)
  • An acute respiratory infection e.g. symptoms of cough, sore throat, runny nose, or shortness of breath
  • Loss of taste or loss of smell
