South Australia Covid update as at 9 January 2022

There have been 4,506 new cases of COVID-19 reported in South Australia today. There are currently 27,762 active cases in South Australia.

Sadly, SA Health can confirm a man in his 90s, who tested positive for COVID-19 has passed away.

There are 176 people with COVID-19 in hospital, including 18 people inICU and two requiring a ventilator. Of the people hospitalised, 102 are fullyvaccinated, 14 are either unvaccinated or partially vaccinated, and 60 have anunknown vaccination status.

Due to a reconfiguration of the data, two cases from yesterday have been added to the total number of cases.

    Variants

    Regular genome sampling is taken to monitor the levels of Omicron within South Australia. Eighty one percent of samples taken returned an Omicron result.
