South Australian man charged after Melbourne CBD death

Homicide Squad detectives have today charged a South Australian man following the death of a man in the Melbourne CBD in May.

A 20-year-old Seaview Downs man was arrested in Magill this morning with the assistance of South Australia Police's Major Crime Investigation Branch.

He was subsequently charged with manslaughter and will face Adelaide Magistrates' Court this afternoon.

The man is expected to be bailed to appear at Melbourne Magistrates' Court on 23 October.

Today's arrest follows an incident on 13 May, 2023 where a 20-year-old Darlington South man died at a Latrobe Street apartment.

It's alleged the two men had been wrestling when the victim lost consciousness shortly before 9am.

Emergency services attended however the man passed away at the scene.

Two other 20-year-old South Australian men who were in the property at the time were not involved in the physical incident.
