Southern River Scrub Fires, WA

Detectives from the Arson Squad’s Strike Force Vulcan are seeking the public’s assistance with their investigation into two fires in Southern River on Monday 9 January 2017.

At around 3:50pm, Strike Force Vulcan officers and the Department of Fire and Emergency Services were called to the fires on vacant land on Sandmartin Drive and Barrett Street. These fires are being treated as suspicious, WA Police say.

Strike Force Vulcan officers would like to speak to the man in the attached photo who was seen riding in the area for a couple of hours around the time of the fires. At one stage he was riding around not wearing his t-shirt. Officers believe he may be able to assist with their inquiries.

Anyone who was in the area around between 4pm and 6pm who may have seen any suspicious person, vehicles or activity, or has any information regarding these fires is asked to call Crime Stoppers.
