From festive favourites like the Martin Place Christmas Tree to new light installations along George Street – Sydney's festive season has officially arrived.
Get into the spirit of the season by visiting our amazing displays throughout the city. Stop by the tallest Christmas tree in NSW, the Martin Place Christmas tree, to see a light show every 15 minutes from 7pm to midnight, every night until 31 December.
Or, if you'd prefer to see a 24 metre tree drenched in Swarovski crystals, stop by the beloved Queen Victoria Building. You'll also see Santa Claus among the blooms if you follow the light display at the Enchanted Garden in the heart of the building.
"Although this year will be different, Sydney still does Christmas better than anyone else and there's plenty for all the family to enjoy this festive season," Lord Mayor Clover Moore said.
"Visit the state's tallest Christmas Tree in Martin Place, see the 6 foot tall Christmas presents and baubles around Cockle Bay or explore all the magic the city has to offer with a self-guided tour of the Christmas lights, decorations and shopping destinations across the city.
"With beautiful outdoor decorations, lighting displays, and interactive activities, you'll find the festive atmosphere is well and truly alive across the city centre and our suburbs.
"Join us in celebrating a Covid-safe Christmas and take a moment to enjoy some of the new outdoor dining and shopping experiences for summer," Lord Mayor Clover Moore said.
Shoppers can search for the perfect gift under thousands of sparkling lights in Pitt Street Mall and stop by the Sydney Christmas institution that is the David Jones Christmas window displays.
As the sun sets, the Woolworths building will be illuminated in red and green, honouring the festive season. And don't miss the magical fairy light canopy at Myer on George Street.
In an ode to the beauty of the Australian landscape, the Strand Arcade is adorned in Christmas decorations inspired by native flowers. And see 27,500 individual twinkling lights covering the ornaments, celebrating the arcade's rich Australian history this festive season.
