Specialist Officer Charged With Firearm Offenses

A police officer has been charged over the alleged possession of a firearm.

In June 2025, officers attached to the Professional Standards Command commenced an investigation into a serving police officer being in possession of a gel blaster firearm.

Following inquiries, investigators attended the officer's residential premises in Sydney and seized a gel blaster firearm and 10,000 gel balls.

Today (Friday 4 July 2025), the 58-year-old senior constable – attached to a specialist command - was served a court attendance notice for possess unauthorised prohibited firearm and possess ammunition without holding licence/permit/authority.

He is due to appear at Waverley Local Court on Tuesday 19 August 2025.

The officer's employment status is under review.
