Altona police officers impounded the vehicle of an allegedly speeding drink driver in Altona Meadows last night.
The Mazda was clocked allegedly travelling at around 140km/h on the Princes Freeway near Brooklyn about 9pm.
Police attempted to intercept the vehicle however it allegedly failed to stop and continued driving at excessive speed.
The Mazda was followed until it came to a stop in Skehan Boulevard in Altona Meadows.
Officers located the 33-year-old driver inside a nearby residential property.
He underwent an evidentiary breath test which returned an alleged reading of 0.127.
The man's licence was immediately suspended and his vehicle impounded at a cost of $1064.40.
He is expected to be charged on summons with driving-related offences.
