Speeding driver arrested in Laverton

Westgate Highway Patrol members are appealing for witnesses and dash cam footage after a driver was allegedly clocked doing 177km/h in Laverton on Saturday night.

Police pulled over the white Holden Colorado dual cab utility on the Kororoit Creek Road about 8pm.

The driver, a 36-year-old man, underwent a breath test which allegedly returned a positive reading however he refused to attend a police station for an evidentiary breath test.

The South Melbourne man was charged with reckless conduct endangering serious injury, drink driving, refuse breath test, being drunk in a public place and other speed-related offences.

He was bailed to appear in Melbourne Magistrates' Court on 14 July.

Police would like to speak to anyone who has dash cam vision or witnessed a car driving erratically in the Melbourne-bound lanes of the Princes Freeway in the Laverton area on Saturday night.
