Sporting Groups Benefit from Playing Field Improvement Fund

Three local sporting groups have benefited from more than $17,000 made available through the Dubbo Regional Sports Council's Playing Field Improvement Fund.

Applications closed on Friday May 19 and Dubbo Regional Sports Council executive approved the following:

  • Wellington Junior Rugby Club installation of a new scoreboard - $10,193.63
  • Wellington Warriors Football Club purchase of replacement goal posts after originals suffered flood damage - $3,300
  • Dubbo Junior Rugby League Club purchase and installation of deep fryers for the Victoria Park 2/3 canteen - $4,500

The total amount of funding distributed was $17,993.63 with the cost of the three projects totalling $40,257.27 and the successful applicants contributing the balance to see the projects completed.

"These projects won't just benefit these clubs; the infrastructure they create will be available for the wider community, making more opportunities for the growth of a range of sports across the region," Dubbo Regional Council Mayor Mathew Dickerson said.

Sporting groups can consider applying for the next round or funding from the 2023/2024 Dubbo Regional Sports Council Playing Field Improvement Fund which will open July 2023.
