Sports Aid Grant Program Open For 2025/26 Applications

Hume City Council is pleased to announce that the 2025/2026 Sports Aid Grant Program (SAGP) is now open.

This year's program introduces updated guidelines designed to attract a broader and more diverse range of applicants, with a particular focus on increasing female participation in sport and physical activity.

The program continues to support the Council's commitment to fostering stronger community engagement through inclusive sporting opportunities.

In 2024/25, the Sports Aid Grant Program received a record number of applications, with 150 applicants receiving grant approval.

Of these grant recipients, 98% applied for a Sport Play Grant, 15% identified as living with a disability, and 66% applicants identified as male.

Basketball, Football (Soccer), Swimming, Tennis, and Cricket emerged as the top five sports supported.

To be eligible for the next round of Sports Aid grants, applicants must be aged 24 years or under, reside within the Hume City Council area, and meet the specific criteria outlined for the two available funding categories:

  • Sport Pathway Grant (up to $1000)

The Sport Pathway grant provides financial assistance to support young athletes participating at regional, state, national, or international level events/programs.

  • Sport Play Grant (up to $250)

The Sports Play grant encourages help individuals facing financial hardship get active in their community.
