Matt Fulton has been named as the new Chief Executive Officer of SportWest.
Mr Fulton was previously the CEO of WestCycle, which he led through a period of significant change and challenge.
His previous roles also include Managing Director of Liquid Marketing, and Group Account Director at The Zoo Republic.
SportWest is the peak industry body for sport in Western Australia, existing to promote, strengthen and advocate for sport across the State.
Sport and Recreation Minister Mick Murray thanked outgoing CEO Rob Thompson for his advocacy of WA sports and his co-operative approach to problem-solving.
As stated by Sport and Recreation Minister Mick Murray:
“Matt is a highly experienced CEO and I welcome him to the role.
“His appointment will help strengthen the voice of sport with his knowledge of the challenges faced by small to medium-sized State Sporting Associations.
“Matt’s efforts to protect WA cycling interests from national threats was no mean feat. He worked tirelessly to ensure that WA retained the ability to determine its own requirements for participation and development.
“I wish Matt all the best in his new role, and pass on my best wishes on to Rob Thompson who will be retiring from the position.”
