Springbrook - bushfire 29 August

Queensland Fire and Emergency Services (QFES) crews remain on scene at a large bushfire burning west of Springbrook Road, near the Springbrook Visitor Centre, south of the intersection of Pine Creek Road.

Backburning is taking place in the vicinity of the Gold Coast Hinterland Great Walk, which is closed to the public. The camping ground on the western side of the Gold Coast Hinterland Great Walk is also closed due to backburning activity. People should visit the the Queensland Parks and Wildlife Services (QPWS) website for more information.

People in the area will be affected by smoke, which will reduce visibility and air quality. Residents are asked to close windows and doors and if suffering from a respiratory condition, keep medications close by. Motorists should drive with caution and to conditions.

Properties are not under direct threat at this time. Call Triple Zero (000) immediately if you believe you or your property is under threat.
