Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding a fatal collision which occurred in Springvale on Thursday night.
Emergency services were called to the Princes Highway near Police Road about 9.50pm after reports that a car and cyclist had collided.
The cyclist, believed to be a man in his 40s, was located at the scene with critical injuries.
Crews worked on the man but were unable to save him.
The driver of the car and her child passenger were taken to hospital with minor injuries.
The exact circumstances surrounding the crash are yet to be determined.
